We want to make a strong contribution to zero accidents at job sites

More than 3,500 serious workplace accidents occur annually in the construction and civil engineering industry in Europe. In this third article in the series on how we at Cramo are working towards the Sustainable Development Goals, we focus on our ambition to make a strong contribution to zero accidents at job sites.

1 Occupational health and safety management systems implemented in all our markets. Occupational health and safety management systems have been implemented in all our markets. Our operations in Sweden, Finland, Estonia and Lithuania are certified according to the ISO 45001 standard or the like and Norway is due to have this certification by the end of the current strategy period. Our target is to have a Lost Time Injury Rate* of zero by 2023. During the last strategy period 2017-2019, we decreased the Lost Time Injury Rate by 30%.

#2 Enabling our customers to provide safe work environments. Safety at job sites is one of our customers’ key concerns. For many years Cramo has supported customers in providing safe work environments for their employees. Our support covers a wide range of safety equipment and more comprehensive safety solutions such as fall protection. All safety documents are today available through our mobile app, which makes it easy for the customer to find required documents when needed. Through our Eco Choice concept, we support our customers in replacing diesel and petrol driven equipment with emission free and hybrid alternatives, thus reducing the level of nitrogen oxides (NOx) and noise on the job site.

#3 Safety training for employees, customers, subcontractors, suppliers and other external parties. Internal safety training is conducted on a regular basis to ensure that all our employees have the right knowledge to be able to handle our equipment safely. External safety training for customers, subcontractors, suppliers and other external parties is provided in Finland, Sweden, Norway and Lithuania. 8,797 individuals participated in the external safety training during 2019.

Occupational health and safety is our first priority and integral to our business. Our ambition is to make a strong contribution to zero accidents at job sites.

* The Lost Time Injury Rate is defined as the number of work-related accidents with at least one full day absence per million working hours.
